Strength and Cardio at Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center
We are committed to offering you the latest state-of-the-art equipment to meet your fitness needs. We have three incredible lines of variable resistance equipment and an Olympic free weight area. After you've toned up, it's time to exercise your heart with a walk around our indoor track. For your cardiovascular workouts, check out the Cardio-Theater and work up a sweat while you channel-surf through television and music selections including CD and radio.

Our exercise physiologists can give you an equipment orientation and a Fitness Assessment. In order to devise a personal exercise plan tailor-made just for you, we recommend having a Fitness Assessment to determine your level of flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance.

Flexibility:
An important, but often overlooked component of workouts. There are various types of flexibility and benefits include of decreased risk of injury, increased postural awareness, reduced stress, improved range of motion and muscular balance.

Cardiovascular Training:
Do you know what your optimum target heart range is for your cardio workouts? Too high or too low a heart rate can defeat the purpose of all those minutes spent on the cardio machines. Whether your goals include weight loss or weight management, swimming or endurance training, your personal trainer can work with you to accomplish them.

Weight Management:
Weight loss goals aren't reached by workouts alone. Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center also offers their exclusive "Weigh to Go" program: registered dietitians will collaborate with your personal trainer and personalize a nutrition plan tailor-made especially for you. Call 531-5233 for more information.

Accountability
At times, even those most dedicated to staying in shape can become unmotivated and fail to challenge themselves as hard as they should. Sometimes, our workouts lack consistency and routines can become stale. Did you know that we should be changing up our workout every two to three months? Your personal trainer can update old programs, help with motivation, and assist you in reaching goals that are individual and special to you.

Call Becka Wilson at 531-5740 or the Fitness Center at 531-5000 today to get started on reaching your fitness goals.

Physical Therapy Screening
Every other Wednesday from 5-8 p.m., a licensed physical therapist gives free injury evaluations to members. The sessions are 30 minutes and you can sign-up at the fitness desk located in the strength and conditioning area.

Performance Training, Inc.
Performance Training, Inc. offers SAQ training, sports specific training, extended rehabilitation and personal training. See our website for more information.

  • SAQ
Whether it be baseball, football, soccer, tennis, rugby, basketball or track and field: lateral, linear or vertical movement skills make a champion. It is known as SAQ. SAQ programming is a process focused on enhancing the athlete's capability to utilize their genetic gifts and reap the benefits of traditional training. SAQ builds upon the conditioning base of previous training. It concentrates on improving the individual's neuro-muscular system so that the initial movement, whether it is lateral, linear, or vertical, automatic, explosive, and precise.

  • Extended Rehabilitation
This program was started to bridge the gap between physical therapy and "normal activity." Working closely with physicians has enabled us to build our extended rehabilitation program not only with the athletes but the general public. Patients recovering from all types of injuries, athletes and non-athletes alike, are working with us to get back on the road to recovery and make a return to an active lifestyle. The goal is to gradually increase the level of activity and challenge the client as they progress. Cardiovascular conditioning, strengthening, flexibility and stabilization are all implemented into their program.

  • Sports Specific Training
Sports specific training includes football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and golf.
